Destiny JENOVA II: The Divine Trio (Chapter 14: Heating Up)

Previously...

Yazoo had gotten word that Kadaj was soon to bring Sephiroth back to the planet thanks to the bond both him and her shared, from JENOVA herself. Determined to make this time around successful and end the desperate struggle that he, JENOVA, and the rest of his family has fought and gone through for many years, Yazoo obeyed JENOVA's instructions and set out with Loz, Sulbio, and Tifa Lockheart to neutralize enemy forces as much as possible in order to protect Kadaj from harm. Setting his fears and concerns aside, Yazoo fearlessly pushes forward, giving his all to protect Kadaj and make certain Sephiroth was successfully reborn.

Chapter 14: Heating Up

(This part will focus on Yuffie as the speaker) I had set out for another day of training, hoping to possibly eliminate more Shinra troops and further neutralize their forces. Just before i could get far, I had seen a crimson sort of shadowy figure approaching me, which i immediately knew was Vincent Valentine. I sighed when he stopped in front of me and said "What is it?" Vincent replied to me and said "We've got trouble--big trouble. Tifa decided to side with JENOVA after listening to Rufus ramble like the maniac he is..." Then i said "You cant be serious. Why would she do that?" Vincent replied and said "There isn't time to explain right now; now we've got both Shinra Company and JENOVA's remnants on the loose, theyre out for blood. Each other's and everything else on this planet. Even worse is I've gotten notice that Kadaj is pregnant; furthermore, with Sephiroth." I sighed and said "Oh, great... well isn't that convenient! Why don't you tell that to Rufus so we at least have Shinra off our back!" Vincent shrugged and said "I know, its a mess. Regardless, we have no choice but to take them both out. If we just sit around and watch, people will die and we lose anyways." I nodded, then said "Youre right; we have no choice but to defeat them both. If we let them go on a rampage like that, innocent people will die and the whole planet could be thrown into chaos.... Alright, so where do we start?" Vincent stopped to think, and said "Well, it seems Kadaj is also out of commission and in a deep slumber for the time being... She isn't dead, but she's sleeping in order to recharge her JENOVA cells so she can handle Sephiroth's power inside of her. If she recovers too much or is too powerfully charged, one can only imagine what she's capable of with Sephiroth inside of her." I didn't like what he was saying, but nodded and said "The worst case scenario could be unthinkable with that happening... i sure hope meteor doesn't get a second chance. If she can use that, we're in big trouble." Vincent nodded and said "I hate to say it but youre right. Rufus said she can cause all kinds of bad things if she is put under extreme stress, and i doubt meteor is an exception given how angry JENOVA is at this point." I suddenly felt highly worried about everything Vincent was saying, but i hid my feelings here and nodded, getting out my shuriken and said "So what are we waiting for? Lets go after them!" Vincent nodded in agreement, and we took off together to find JENOVA's remnants. I had quickly realized things were getting very ugly on the planet after Vincent's explanation of what seemed to be everything. This was no time for playing around.

Several hours later...

We had come to a rather wide open area, and as expected there were bodies all over the place; both fallen Shinra troops and other people who likely tried to defend themselves. I walked around a bit and said "This is awful... Its like everyone has lost their humanity and replaced it with brutality..." Vincent replied and said "Something's going on here, thats for sure. Some of these people look like they were killed by severe Geostigma..." Surprised, i turned back to Vincent and said "Uh oh... So that means the JENOVA Lifestream is already making a comeback. This is very bad..." Vincent stood in silence and said "Which means we don't have time to play around with Shinra. At this rate, we have to go straight for JENOVA. We don't wanna wait around for this." I replied and said "You said Kadaj is pregnant with Sephiroth, right?" Vincent nodded but didn't speak. Stopping to think, i said "None of this was happening before Kadaj was pregnant, which means its Sephiroth's development causing all of this carnage. If we kill Kadaj, its safe to say JENOVA's plan is foiled again." Vincent replied and said "Youre right, but unfortunately it wont be so easy. JENOVA sent the rest of her kids out in order to create a diversion that would act as a defensive measure, so Kadaj goes unharmed and Sephiroth is successfully born once again. If this is only the beginning of whats on its way, i can only imagine how much worse all of this will get..." I nodded and said "Either way, its loud and clear this planet is in danger. Without Cloud Strife here to help us, we need a plan; i don't think this planet has much time left at this rate." Vincent spoke and said "Somehow i get the feeling a cataclysm is on its way--and targeting the entire planet." Just before i could reply and lead us forward, we were startled out of our conversation by shots fired somewhere from behind. Of course, we defended ourselves and managed to avoid getting hurt. We turned in the direction they seemed to come from, and i saw Yazoo, Loz, and another guy i didn't recognize with them but was clearly one of them. However, Tifa didn't seem to be around. Yazoo got off his motorbike first, approaching us with pure intent as expected. He laughed and said "So you're actually trying to stop us, are you?" I replied and said "Of course! Why would i sit around and watch everyone die like that?" He laughed some more, then said "Glad you could make it! But youre already too late. Little Sister has our Big Brother, and everything is already in place as it should be. Since youre already out of time, why bother doing anything?" Vincent said "Stop lying to us. If we were out of time everyone would already be dead except you guys and JENOVA." Then i spoke and said "And Im not so petty that i'll sentence everyone to death like that." Yazoo smiled and shook his head, and said "You really dont get it, do you? We've already gotten far enough your chances of winning are lower than the abyss. Ive waited years for this day to come.... and i intend to make it count. Give up right here and now, and we'll spare you. If you resist, you fight a battle you cant win." I groaned angrily, and said "Give up?! Have you lost your mind?!" Yazoo laughed and said "Very well, then. Feel Mother's fury and wrath.... I want you to beg for forgiveness." I decided to ignore his commentary and just started attacking back to back with him, which quickly turned into both me and Vincent going back to back with all of them at once. After some time passed, Yazoo seemed to grow angry and frustrated being unable to land hits on me, and stopped and stood across the area, glaring at me with angry green eyes. He spoke and said "No... i wont lose again... I promised Little Sister i would save her..!" Of course, we began clashing again before long. After a while, Yazoo teleported behind me, but before he could hit me, i attacked him with my shuriken which caught him off guard. He shouted in pain, and fell to the ground. I decided to turn and help Vincent with the other two, but he seemed to have them pinned as well. We had them weakened enough it might be a rather easy finish. I turned back to Yazoo, who was still on the ground and wounded. I walked in his direction, but something suddenly stopped me and got my attention before i could get too close. I noticed there was a large circular shadow hanging over where i stood, and i immediately said "Uh oh... Whats going on?!" I glanced around hastily, trying to locate Vincent but he was nowhere in sight. I quickly noticed the shadow was expanding at a frightening pace. Not waiting another minute, i turned and ran out of its range as best i could but it was no use; it was growing too quickly for me to outrun. I knew what was happening but didn't understand how; meteor was mysteriously being summoned by an unseen source. Out of nowhere, something swooped in and lifted me off the ground, and i cried out in surprise thinking i was being attacked but i quickly learned i was being rescued. I looked back at where we'd fought Yazoo and the others and saw the ground there was molten hot; followed by lava and burning flames which spread through the scene horrendously fast. Strangely though, it seemed to stop spreading once it was some distance around the area's vicinities, but the lava and flames remained otherwise. I noticed it was Vincent who swooped in and rescued me from a disturbingly painful death i would have suffered without his help. We landed somewhere outside of the attack's radius and i said "I dont even know what happened over there... Did Yazoo and the others survive?" Vincent replied and said "What do you think?" I knew exactly what that meant and sighed, shaking my head. I then said "This is not good... But how is that even possible? How can they cast meteor on a lower scale like that?" Vincent remained silent, but despite his reserved attitude i knew he was deeply troubled about this. Vincent was more of the silent type if he was concerned or troubled about something. I spoke next and said "Was that even them that summoned it?" Vincent replied and said "I doubt it. None of them are strong enough to have that kind of control over an attack that powerful and catastrophic." I stood in silence and then said "Then who did? Kadaj is sleeping and Sephiroth hasnt even been reborn yet..." Vincent shrugged and said "I dont know, but we have to find out how that happened. We cant afford the same thing again." I nodded, then said "But how? We dont have time to investigate this!" Vincent replied and said "We have no choice but to make an exception with what just happened out there. If we don't learn the source of the attack, what power do we have to prevent it from landing again?" I was very worried and desperate to end all of this violence before it could go any further. I wanted to track Yazoo and the rest of Kadaj's gang and try again, but Vincent was right and i knew it. Meteor was too devastating and if we don't learn how it was summoned, whatever or whoever had controlled it might lose control and cast it full-scale on the entire planet. If that happens, its all over no matter what. I didn't like letting even more time pass, but there was no choice but to find out how meteor had been summoned with such amazing control. I couldn't help worrying for the planet's fate with all of the horrible and destructive things that were already happening in such a small amount of time. Doom was on its way to the planet, and i knew this might be the only chance we get to stop all of this death and destruction. There was no time to waste or get careless.
